I have the latest version of Plex installed on an unRaid server. Works great. In cleaning up my files recently, I’ve discovered what appears to be duplicate (but slightly different) entries. Can anyone tell me why I have these two entries?

Note however, that one entry identifies how many movies, the second is a movie. Most notable is the Spiderman entry, which identifies 2 movies. Are these generated by plex? Did I somehow configure them to show up?
If you have configured Plex to include collection information from The Movie Database this can result in this kind of single-item collections that appear to be duplicates at first sight. You can easily distinguish the collections from regular movies – when sorted by title, movies display their release year below the title while collections show the number of items in this collection.
The link posted above explains how to deal with inline collections (e.g. how to hide them or how to get rid of the automatically created ones). Personally I like this feature a lot and have organized all my franchise movies this way (e.g. grouping all my lord of the rings movies as 1 item in the main library)
That makes sense now. I love the idea of collections. However, why does it think a single movie is a collection? I can see where its tagged in each movie (edit movie>tags>collections), and i could delete the collection information, however, i have 3000 movies, so that’s a chore. Does Plex somehow know that this movie is part of collection somehow? I seems like nearly all of my movies have been tagged as a collection.
To avoid future “auto-collections” you can disable Use collection info from The Movie Database in the advance settings of your movie library.
The best way to mass-edit / fix is to switch to the collections view. Your options are basically …
to go through the items of each collection and mass-edit (remove) the collections tag in each of their items
go to the advanced settings of those single-item collections and tell Plex to hide this collection (I’ve done this e.g. for Ant-Man or Deadpool where the 2nd release is about to be released)
I would like to keep the collections for ‘real’ collections. Is there a to just delete the collections that are in error? I’ve deleted the tag in some of the movies, but the collections remain.
