Smart Playlist Filter - Album/Artist Rating - is - Unrated *UI ISSUE* /// Don't exclude Not Rated in "is not - X star"

Edit-
The functionality to select “Album/Artist - is - Unrated” is there, however it offers no visual feedback and is an extremely small clickable section. See tom80H’s post below

Original post-

The Smart Playlist filter “Track Rating” uses a dropdown menu to select ratings 1-5 star, or “Not Rated”. Having an “Not Rated” option is important, as using a filter such as;
"Track Rating - is not - 1 star "
will exclude all unrated tracks.

Therefore the two filters in the screenshot below are require to create a playlist of all non-1 star tracks - (exclude 1 star & reinclude Not Rated)

However, the filters “Album Rating” and “Artist Rating” use a 5 clickable star system in the filter, which does not allow for an “Not Rated” option; while “is not - 1 star” still excludes “unrated”. (Leaving the clickable stars unclicked does not work to assume “Not Rated”).

Different Smart Filter rating systems shown below;

Because of this, I can’t create a playlist that excluded 1 star Artists, 1 star Albums and 1 star songs but does include all Not Rated music

As such, I’d request Album Rating and Artist Rating use a rating select dropdown to allow for an “unrated” option; or that the “is not - ‘X’ stars” does not exclude Not Rated items

Tangentially, changing the star ratings to numerical values from -1, to 10 adds unnecessary confusing when looking back at smart filters (2 in the above screenshots signifies “1 star”)

There is a non-zero change that I’m an idiot and have missed something; either a feature add, or showing me I’m an idiot is appreciated.

While the controls look different – you can also set the album and artist rating to “not rated” (=0 stars).n Admittedly it can be hard to get there as you need to click a very tiny area next of the most left star.

You should be able to create a playlist filtering for the mentioned criteria:

  • Match any of the following
    • Match all of the following
      • Artist Rating → is not → 1
      • Album Rating → is not → 1
      • Track Rating → is not → 1
    • Track Rating → is → unrated (0)

Thanks, Tom

Unfortunately, those filters allow unrated songs from “1 star” albums (or artists) though. (Apologies if I was unclear about what I was looking for in the filters)

However, being able to select “unrated” for Album/Artist has allowed this filter stack to work

I’m going to go ahead and change the title of the thread to reflect that it’s a UI issue, not a functional issue

Is it possible to post a screen shot of where exactly this “not rated” setting is? Also how do you get the drop down option in the third row? I only have stars…

Here’s an example:

  1. rating filter not yet set:

  2. rating filter set to “no rating”:

Sadly, there’s no visual distinction on the “stars” but you can see the difference in the highlighted number of tracks resulting from the filter.

How to do it…

  1. Set the filter to [Track|Album|Artist] Rating > is
  2. Select any number of stars
  3. Click left of the most left star until no star is selected

I find it easiest to reproduce if I keep the mouse button down, sliding over the stars instead of clicking them.

Thank you so much for the reply and your clear directions, but I still can’t get it to work. I’m going to have to give up for now until there’s a more straight forward way to filter unrated tracks.
