This might be a stupid question but I figured I’d ask anyway. I just put a P2000 in my server and while I was looking up some issues I was having I came across someone asking about 4k transcoding and having more than one version. Someone then responded to it saying that a feature in beta was to prefer non-4k if theres more than one version.
I’ve since spent a ton of time trying to find that post and I can’t, nor can I find any patch notes or discussion mentioning it.
Oh wait. I think we are going about this wrong. The new feature is not to pick a non-4k file when playing back. You still need to do that manually. However, if it needs to transcode, then it will use the closest file. i.e. It will transcode the 1080 version instead of the 4K version if the bitrate of the 1080 is closer to the client.
Is there a link describing exactly what logs you need? See evidence of others having the same issue on Reddit so happy to help figure it out for is all if i can.
Edit: I just tried it again, Plex Web still isnt working for me (using the plex.tv version) but my iPhone seems to have just picked the 1080p version… So it seems to be kinda working, but I would expect Plex Web to pick the 1080p to transcode.
I just heard back from the team that there is a bug currently preventing that feature from working with Plex Web. The team is looking into it. Sorry for the confusion.
