HD Homeruns, Silicon Dust. Live TV.
So Plex Dev’s. Back in 2021-2023 we discussed in great detail about support for Plex Live TV and DVR and making it a wonderful experience for end users.
To be honest I gave up, as there were and have been no improvements to any stability or new features like ‘crash recording’. So many bugs!! Failed recordings, ‘can’t move media to destination’, so bad, I now have two Plex DVR’s to make sure I don’t miss live TV shows that are important like news. I have logged and logged and reached out and written to your developers. Nothing has changed in years. I simply gave up.
I’m chiming in as I feel that I need to mention this after so many years. So…what happened?
Am I right in assuming that Plex as a company doesn’t really develop so much for Live TV/DVR anymore ?
I am assuming you are using an antenna for your reception?
It sounds like your TV signal isn’t strong/clean enough for a quick channel lock.
I am using a HDHomeRun PRIME with a cablecard in Comcast and have not experienced anything other than the occasional guide mismatch or very rare missed recording (~1x per every 10-12 months for over 5 years).
Before my HDHR I was using 2 USB dual tuner (also with cablecard) from Hauppague with no additional issues.
It’s personally look into your signal quality and see if a better signal (does not = more powerful signal) can’t solve the issue you are describing.
** BTW, I use Plex DVR exclusively for all my recording.
Yes, Antenna being used with 2x Happague USB dual tuners. Signal is good as far as I’m aware. If I use NextPVR the channel lock and tuning is much quicker. Recordings are fine, it’s just when I watch live.
