I have been using Plex for about a year and it has worked great thus far, but as I have started to use additional capabilities I am starting to run into some issues. My Plex server is a Windows 10 PC and I use it as my exclusive DVR and movie server. Until recently I used a Nexus Player and a PC for watching recordings (I use the HDHomeRun app for live TV most of the time on them) and occasionally use my Android phone for watching recordings and live TV. My TV tuners are HDHomeRun Extend devices. This setup has worked relatively well. Recordings work most of the time and the system has been pretty stable. I recently (about a month ago) purchased a Roku. I use Plex exclusively for watching live TV on the Roku and that is where problems have started cropping up more frequently. Every 2 or 3 days I get an error that Plex “Cannot Start Live TV”. That error is not isolated to the Roku, it also carries across Plex as a whole. Live TV does not work on my Android phone or on the server. The server throws the error “Unable to tune channel”. Recordings that were scheduled also occasionally fail as a result. Restarting the server fixes the problem and life continues as normal, until it happens again. Can anyone provide me with some troubleshooting steps I can take or things that may fix the problem I am having? Or, if there is a forum post already that appears to solve this issue you can point me in that direction as well. Thank you in advance.
Not to sound like I am dogging Plex because I am not but Live TV/DVR needs work, Its extremely hit or miss and many including myself are having problems with it. I love Plex but this needs work. Rite now I consider Live TV/DVR beta and I deal with it and provide Plex as much info including logs as I can to try and help them flush out these problems. Meantime I have the HD HomeRun app on all my devices as backup and use this when Plex fails.
If there really is no fix for the problems I am experiencing how do I provide Plex with my logs to help them out?
You post your logs here like this. I don’t know which file they need in the zip file so I post the entire zip file and tell them “I was trying to tune channel 709 KCALDT and it gave me a failure message. It’s the very last thing I did so it should be at the end of the log.”
That’s how you do it.
