I’ve been searching relentlessly and it seemed there was no good way of taking an HDMI input stream and rebroadcasting it through Plex. I found quite a few hacks concerning TVHeadend and other very techie options. These were all described as relatively unstable and seemed to be more configuration than it is worth.
Here is an albeit expensive solution if anyone searches on this later. Two devices needed.
First, you will need an HDMI to ATSC modulator such as the Satlink ST-6601 (about $250-$300.) What this device does is take an HDMI input and rebroadcasts it on coax as an ATSC digital broadcast.
After you get that working, use a coax splitter and combine it with an antenna to feed an HDHomerun or Hauppage tuner that is compatible with Plex. (About $100).
My application for this will be to take a video camera surveillance system at my home with 8 cameras and view it through plex anywhere in my home or the world.
