[SOLVED] Can't access server via http://app.plex.tv/desktop

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: 3.77.4

First my setup:

  • PMS running in Docker container configured with its own IP address.
  • Server that hosts the PMS container is running on its own network segment.
  • All internet traffic from local LANs is tunneled thru my VPN provider.
  • I have a plex account.
  • I do not have Plex Pass.
  • My PMS’s name is ‘Plex’

What works:

  • I can log-in to my dockerized Plex Web App directly and stream from my mac.
  • All my devices Plex apps (iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs) can log-in and stream just fine.

What does not work:

When I try and access the Plex app thru https://app.plex.tv/desktop from my mac I get an error and can’t see my server.

   The server "Plex" is unavailable

If my devices Plex apps can find the server, why doesn’t this work as well?

Nothing huh?

Had to add:

private-domain: "plex.direct"

to my pfSense unbound DNS config.
