[Solved] Plexamp doesn't play anything from the library

Plexamp: I’ve installed plexamp player on windows 10. It connects to my server and I can see the media… But whenever I play a track it doesn’t play anything. It skips the media as if it’s 0 seconds long. Even a downloaded track won’t play. Also plexmediaplayer and other clients on the same PC play fine. Has anyone a solution?

The logfile:
Plexamp.log
I found this in the logfile:

Not sure about Windows, but check your Advanced setting for that music library and disable Store Track Progress. That fixed a skipping problem of mine.

If that’s not the issue, can you upload some logs?

i see error 41 in there which usually implies a file format issue. what’s the format of the files you’re trying to play? have you tried different formats? reducing the quality to force a server conversion?

.m4a - It still plays fine in the web-browser and the plexmediaplayer…
I tried forcing an auto convert to a lower quality with plexamp… with “Music Quality” tab: W-Fi and Conversion… but i’m plugged into ethernet, so I don’t know if that would change it. Regardless, those conversions didn’t fix it.

does plexamp on mobile play the track?

Yes, Plexamp on mobile will play the track.

then probably a variant of mp4 which windows codecs can’t decode. we’d need a sample to be able to assist more.

I tried the same track on plexamp for windows on another windows machine in my house… and it worked fine… It’s just that one computer. I even tried Uninstalling/Installing plexamp. But you could be right about the codecs. I do know Shark codecs were installed on the working machine… I’ll have to check later.

I installed the Shark Codecs from:
https://shark007.net/index.html

Plexamp now plays fine… Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Huh, never even heard of those, but glad you got it working!
