I’ve tried to use Plexamp to play my music collection, but it just flat-out will not work at all. All I’m trying to do here is play an mp3 - any mp3. You’d think this would be a pretty basic function to have nailed. It brings up the track, then immediately skips to the next, and so on, until it gets to the last track in the folder/album. That’s it. That’s all it does. It won’t play anything at all.
How could something this basic about a music player be so broken?
Thanks. I did have that enabled. I disabled it on the library, exited the app, restarted the service, reconnected, and still have the same problem. I tried several files with lower bitrates so it isn’t that.
I think I fixed it. I don’t know if this is related, but I checked the logs and it was throwing a JSON parsing error: Jun 25, 2022 16:08:01.247 [Javascript] INFO - ViewState: Error loading from storage., JSON Parse error: Unexpected token: u
The name of the top-level folder was “Albums, Concerts & Recordings” or something like that. I changed it to “Albums-Concerts” - removing all spaces, the comma and the special character. I have also disabled the “Store Track Progress” feature. Anyhow it now seems to be working.
I’m certain it was the special characters in the file path. I could retest fairly easily. The network share is mounted and works fine, and I am able to browse it no problem in file explorer. It was only Plex that was choking on it. It is either the “,”, the spaces, or the “&” in the folder name.
Right, the file names could have made them inaccessible to the server for some reason. Is this a Windows server, and can you give me any more details around the network share?
