Somehow wrong video file is played for episode 1

With this naming, they at least all show up. With a structure that does not reflect the reality of the releases, but at least which allows navigating to each video.

I guess my next question will be: given a large media library of a few hundred shows, how can I easily find other video files which have been mistreated in a similar way? Or do I have to wait to discover them all randomly, so that they too can cause relationship issues?

Plex cannot know about “the reality of the releases”. All it knows is on TheTVDB.com and TheMovieDB.org

You will have to manage your relationship issues on your own. That is nothing Plex can help you with.

True enough. It can certainly cause them, but it’s not going to resolve any.
