Something went wrong An unexpected error occurred - v1.40.0.7775

Server Version#: 1.40.0.7775

“Something went wrong
An unexpected error occurred.”

I get this with all libraries using the new PMS beta version on a Thecus N5550. Windows versions of PMS v1.40.0.7775 work perfectly.

I can remove v1.40.0.7775 from the Thecus and install previous v1.32.8.7639 and all works correctly again!

I will wait until new version is out of Beta unless their is other suggestions.

I can’t do anything without server logs.

Thanks for the reply!

Attached below are all the logs for my Thecus N5550 NAS. I tried a couple of times yesterday, (2023-12-19), to upgrade to beta v1.40. Logs with todays date are for v1.32 and work.

Also, on another issue: My scheduled task “Backup directory” is set wrong to –
/raid/data/module/PlexMediaServer/Databases

I changed to this several months ago when the backup was giving me an error message. Since then I do not think it’s even making a backup now that I changed this from the default. If you can give me some guidance on this as well and how to backup that would be great!

I found the following Plex article about backup for the NAS but I have no knowledge how to get to the file(s) for manual backup:
“In Linux and on NAS devices, the preferences.xml file in the main Plex Media Server directory contains the corresponding settings. So, that means there isn’t anything else special that you need to back up.”

I use WinSCP but could not find any of these files to do a manual backup except to view when adding a library in the Plex web app. What GUI app can I use to make a manual backup for my N5550? I’m a certified Windows MCSE Systems Admin and A+ certified but Linux I’m more of a newbie.

Thanks again!

I have the same issue.
OS: Windows Server 2019
Server Version: 1.40.0.7775
Logs: Plex Media Server.log.zip (334.0 KB)

For some reason it auto updated to the beta version even though it was set to public releases. Luckily downgrading to version 1.32.8.7639 is possible and the database was not corrupted.

roll back to the older version and it works for me in ubuntu

curl -O “https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server-new/1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf/debian/plexmediaserver_1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf_amd64.deb

dpkg -i plexmediaserver_1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf_amd64.deb

the windows msi or exe should be hosted on plex under non-beta or not the plexpass version

Your database is corrupt which causes the database migration to fail.

You’ll need to address this before attempting to upgrade again: https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/

Can’t really tell exactly what’s going on from the logs, if possible could you share your database file with me via DM?

You can grab it from Settings → Troubleshooting → Download Database.
