Server Version#: 1.21.3.4014
Player Version#: 3.4.1
I have noticed within like the last plexamp build or the recent version of PMS, I am getting weird results after listening to a whole album. I will click on the album and listen to the whole thing. I have it set to repeat the album when its done with all the songs. When I get to the first song again, the player wants to start at the end of the song with like 5 seconds left and I hear the end. it then continues though the songs and only playing the last 5 seconds. This does not happen on all the songs for some reason but most of them.
Has anyone else seen this?
P.S. With Plexamp, can I set it to ONLY play the album all the way though and then quit? If I have it on default, it then plays some random stuff at the end. the 1 means one song and the repeat just plays the same album over an over (my best choice),
After looking harder at the forums, it seems like this is and issue⊠and you just need to turn off Store track Progress on the Music library. However, some people might care about this setting if listening to lets say Audio books and want to move to another device. I still think there is a bug here due to when I finish playing a song, it should reset to 0 and not leave it at 95% or whatever itâs doing.
Whatâs most likely happening here is that the Plexamp sweet fades result in the last few seconds of the track not actually being played. I donât think this is a bug, as you shouldnât have âStore track progressâ turned on for a music library.
Given itâs a per-library preference, as long as your music and audiobooks are kept separate (as they should be), you can simply turn the setting off for music, and on for audiobooks. As far as I can tell, it sounds like this is working as designed, though please correct me if Iâm wrong.
This is definitely a bug, and it has only been doing this to me recently.
I get that if you have the listening position enabled for the library and you stop or skip forward and go back to it later itâll start in the middle but lately almost whole albums get skipped over because of this and that never happened before.
Iâm having a similar issue, except when using the Plex player on Apple TV. I can play an album or artist station OK for awhile, but eventually Plex will start new songs at almost the end of each song (approx. 5 to 10 seconds remaining). I havenât noticed this issue when using Plexamp, but itâs definitely an issue with Plex on Apple TV. My Plex server is running ver. 1.21.3.4021. The problem was happening under the prior server version, too.
From a user perspective this definitely is a bug. It actually shows how much Plex is unwilling or unable to give us what makes a good music experience.
Look at how Plex handles movies. If I only play it for a couple of seconds or quit it with a couple minutes still left it wont show up in ââcontinue watchingââ.
If itâs because of sweet fades than the app knows itâs the end of the song and should mark it as such.
Telling us that we shouldât use âStore track progressâ for a music library is the Apple way of dealing with problems. What about classical music, DJ sets, jazz sessions âŠ
I had high hopes that PlexAmp would finally give us a proper musicplayer experience. As stated by Plex ââA beautiful Plex music player for audiophilesââ
But:
No bitperfect playback - everything gets transcoded
No widget - use the notification
Played songs donât stay cached - one has to download them even if I set my cache to 16GB
No way to go offline and play cached songs or easily see which songs are cached - one is forced to use the download section
On Windows there is no easy way to minimize or close the app
and the list goes on and on.
To see what a good music player is look at e.g. foobar, musicbee, roon, neutron, dsub, âŠ
I think this is a bug, also. If you stop a track in an album, and then start playing the album again from the beginning, when you get to that previously-stopped track, it assumes you want to pick up where you left off, and skips to there. Doesnât do this if you play the same album using Plex in the browser, or the Plex app. Stop enough tracks in the album, and itâs like the thing went through the blender.
I find that overall, support for Music and Audiobooks leaves a lot to be desired. I understand that the devs are playing with the sexy stuff like arcade games, but it seems like some of the basics are being neglected, here. If only Music/Audiobook support was as good as for Movies!!
Setting Store track progress appears to be a hacky-fix for this behavior, but disables the ability to pause a track on one player and resume on another player without losing progress.
I can confirm that the 95% progress bug appears whether or not Sweet Fades is enabled. IIRC this is a fairly new regression that wasnât present a month ago. The previous behavior was to reset progress back to 0% on completion of a track.
So Iâve come across the same issue, and need to turn off the âstore track progressâ setting now, but it seems to be completely gone from my settings. Iâm on version 3.4.2 on Android. The problem is still happening but I canât find the setting anywhere (it used to be under âAdvancedâ, right?)
