Hi, does the Shield Pro / Plex combo pass through regular DTS given the somewhat recent Sonos firmware update? When I play a DTS movie, I only see PCM 5.1 and not DTS on the Sonos App. I think technically, a converted to PCM stream of DTS is the same as The DTS stream, so they should sound the same, so this is more of a “is my system work” question. If Plex does output DTS, what settings should I set? Under my Shield, in Advanced Sound and Video, DTS is shown as not selected. Thanks!
Is this how things are connected?
Shield ← HDMI → TV ← HDMI-ARC → Sonos ARC
If so, it will depend if your TV can passthrough DTS audio.
A quick test:
Check TV settings for passthrough audio.
Set Shield sound settings to Auto.
In Plex app, set passthrough = hdmi.
Play something with dts audio.
Not all TVs passthrough dts audio. For example, LG removed dts passthrough from their recent TVs. rtings.com checks audio passthrough from attached devices. You can check their site and see if they’ve reviewed your TV.
Correct. PCM is lossless, so they should sound the same.
