Sonos + Plex Where is the Music Library?

Server Version#: 1.18.8.2527-740d4c206_amd64
Player Version#: 11.0/55174250

I’m setting up Plex for the first time. It is set up and running on my Readynas.

When I connect with my Sonos to the Plex service, my library isn’t there. Instead, there is a bunch of other catagories (recommended, My Podcasts, Categories, Plex Picks, Popular, Comedy, News, Technology, and Other) but not my library.

If I select “Other”, I get a spinning wheel that leads to a message: “No Plex Media Server Available. Please make sure your Plex Media Server is Accessible.”

It certainly should be accessible. It is on the same network segment as my entire sonos system. Further, the nas that is running Plex server is the same nas that I play my music from. there is no issue with Sonos reaching and using the NAS that is running Plex.

How do I turn these other categories off and turn on my library? My library is the only thing I want to see.

When I use an iOS plex app, I can see and browse my library.

What gives? Sonos or Plex issue?

I think I got this going. I turned on remote access and now my library is appearing.

And, all the podcast bs is gone.

Performance is crap, I’m sure due to my 15 year old NAS being severly underpowered.

At any rate, I’ll let it scan my library overnight and wee how it is later this weekend. Hopefully it will work better when not scanning.

I had a similar problem years ago when Plex first hooked up with Sonos. Albums and shuffle would not load but artists recently added and recently played would work. Turns out my Synology NAS is underpowered. Connected a Seagate Backup Plus to my MacBook Air and now everything is fine. Roon would not work either.
