Whenever I load the Plex service on my Sonos, it shows “no content available” but if I search for an album it will find it and then if I restart the Sonos app several times, the Plex content will reappear.
Any ideas? A Sonos problem or a Plex problem?
A pitty. Having the same problem and see there is no need to ask the forum, nobody answered to this thread. No help in this forum?
More like it’s kinduva known issue and can’t really get either Plex or Sonos to pick it up really (client issues with local media don’t get as much traction here as they used to get).
Sonos and Plex generally work fine based on most people’s reports I’ve seen but since Sonos 2 it’s been worse so it’s hard to know where the problems come in and it’s easy to assume it’s Sonos.
I have 4 different iOS devices and they don’t all work the same or reliably when trying to use Sonos let alone using it with Plex (strictly via PlexAmp for me). Heck one of my iPhones just will not stay signed into Sonos and takes 30 seconds to load Home Screen once it is signed in… Sonos support ended with “gee, you should call Apple or factory reset your device” even after telling them it was already factory reset. Sonos forums had lots of folks with the same problem and same response. So yeah… easy to assume it’s on Sonos. ![]()
Overall I tend to stick with using PlexAmp and casting to Sonos. That’s not always perfect but usually only takes flipping the casting off\on once or twice to get it started and once it’s started it’s just fine (can use PlexAmp or Sonos to control from there).
Sonos can playback direct from server shares - that might be worth trying to see if it’s Sonos or Plex w/Sonos.
Sorry this isn’t more helpful, just saw the post and experienced my own issues so empathized. Maybe some device details for y’all and some logs from client\server will help get some Plex folks engaged… or some smarter than me community folks. ![]()
Ok, I think I figured out the problem. In order for the Plex Sonos app to access the music library you must be logged into the server. It seems the the Sonos app won’t display the music library if you are logged out. At least that appears to be the case with my Mac mini set up..
