I was delighted when after the latest update Plex popped up on my Sony Bravia Bravia KDL-32X570 (2011).
However, weirdly, only mp4’s are recognised (of which I have very few). All the library sections are there, but when you drill down to watch something in a series folder for example, it just says ‘there are no items to display’. Obviously they are all there on my external HD, mainly in avi and mkv formats.
I am streaming from my iMac which runs plex flawlessly to iphone, ipad and macbook air (although unfortunately not in all parts of the house (namely the living room) but that’s another network problem, I think)
It’s not the TV’s problem as it shows the files in Serviio, which is functional but clunky to say the least.
My other TV, Bravia KDL-55X710, is a 2010 model and obviously won’t run Plex - although it manages Serviio (but I have streaming problems with it as there’s a network black hole in my living room all of a sudden)
it feels like a simple setting needs to be changed, but I am at a loss in PMS preferences, there’s nothing relevant. What else could it be? When I first installed the update before last I rescanned my library as I had installation problems and had to uninstall completely and then reinstall. But everything has been working as usual elsewhere since.
Many thanks in advance for any help!
I am having the same problem with a new Sony KDL40NX720 Bravia, linked via ethernet to my Mac Pro running Plex Media Server (latest) PMS 0.9.6.1 dlna. It does not ‘see’ my AVI files … so folders with a particular TV show appear empty when viewed on the TV.
Hi,
Same annoying problem here. MP4’s are working fine but the AVI files are not visible over DLNA to my bedroom TV sony kdl 22ex320b. Is this a limitation on Plex server or on Sony side?
Support needed!
I have now installed Sony Homestream on my Mac mini. Works great!
I’m having similar issues with my Sony blu-ray player. I was thrilled to see Plex show up in the options and all my files appear to be there, but when I try to play any of them, I get the message “The file is corrupt or unsupported” Doesn’t matter the file type–.avi, .mp4, nothing will play. Even when I try Plex’s video channels, I get “There is no playable file” as I drill down into the TV show files.
I’m bummed.
i have a sony smp n100 and can access and see my files [though not all of them] if i select one and play it, all i get is a blank screen.
I tried release 0.9.6.3.143 and have the same problem with my Sony NX723 and BDP-470s. Files that worked (MP4) using ReadyDLNA are corrupt. I am really looking forward to a solution to this as I’m fed up with the useless UI and functionality ion ReadyDLNA! Plex seem to offer much more and likes really nice.
Awaiting an answer to this as well…
+1 - I’m in the same boat and would love to know if a solution is incoming. Homestream appears to be working well as an interim solution (but it’s lacking the bells and whistles! We love the bells and whistles.)
I think we all should take a look in this thread Transcoding etc
You are all posting in the wrong forum
We have been working on this with a group and it is almost working: http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/39319-sony-bravia-2011-profile/
