Sony TV transcoding 4k Videos to 1080p

Player Version#: 8.25.1.28703. TV is Android 11.

Problem:
Plex is transcoding 4k movies to 1080p. 4k option isn’t even available in the list where you select the video quality - only 1080p HDR. Playback info shows HEVC-H264 transcoding, but the bitrates are high like 4k. All my other TVs/Players can play 4k without a hitch.

What I have done so far:
The settings of the player have highest quality selected.

I have connected the TV via ethernet cable. TV’s ethernet port is 100 Mbps, but the infracture upstream is all gigabit (iperf3 test done on TV’s cable as well, it is all good).

I have updated TV to the latest update.

4K bitrates can easily go beyond what a 100 Mbps LAN port can deal with.

You could look at the other technical details of your media. While the Android TV might be able to deal with HEVC it could still have trouble with certain other elements of your streams (or their combination).
