I installed Plex on my synology NAS some days ago and added my whole, big movie library (at once) to Plex.
Unfortunately i can’t sort my movie library by creation or modified (file) date in any client (web, Android, iOS, …)
In my opinion this is a very essential option that really is needed and any other media server i know has!
The ‘Date Added’ option in my case is completly useless, because i added all movies from scratch at once and sorting seems random (in the order the infos/covers have been downloaded?) in my case.
I hope this option can be added, because i really liked Plex, but without that option i don’t want to use it at the moment.

Has anyone resolved this issue because I have the exact same problem. I need my movies to be sorted by “date created” otherwise Plex is almost of no use to me and I am a PlexPass subscriber. 
Add another request for this feature.
This is a major issue with PLEX and the lack of being able to organizing videos by their actual file date makes PLEX worthless as a video manager.
Basically I’ve switched over to Channels DVR because of it’s more efficient UI. Also, for whatever reason, it doesn’t load down my CPU and streams effortlessly on my Cat 6 network, whereas Plex has it’s good and bad days.
But PLEX has the ability to pull in video repositories from just about anything! THAT could be a VERY powerful feature, if only we could sort our video’s by the creation date! I recently paid my PLEX pass, but honestly, if this fie date sort feature isn’t added in the future, I’ll probably cancel.
Meanwhile, if someone knows of a simple Video manager that can simply sort video’s by their file date, I’m still looking for something. I can do this with my MAC (finder) and the file manager in windows, but I’m looking for something like PLEX with that basic sorting feature.
I don’t know how this basic sorting wasn’t added over the course of many years of Plex.
Can someone please add this kind of sorting to Plex !
I upgrade my collection regularly (from 1080p files to 2160p), but when I do this Plex doesn’t recognize new date added.
