I love having the random library order. I’m sure everyone can understand being tired of the cover art for 12 angry men, 12 monkeys, 12 years a slave, and 21 jump street. But I have many collections, and sorting by “random” means that all of my movies are taken out of their collections and then sorted randomly. Which is not what I want.
Basically, the reason I would sort by random is to be able to pick a movie and not have the same movies always get forgotten at the bottom of the page. But when I’m picking a movie, I really don’t need an entry for every single Marvel movie and every James Bond film. That’s why all the massive franchises get put into collections: so that they don’t flood the catalogue. Otherwise the problem is that all the one-off movies get forgotten in between the massive franchises.
I know it’s a little thing, but it’s nice to have everything show up in a fresh order when I open Plex and it’s disappointing that the current way to do that isn’t very good.
