Been using Plex for a year now and am more than pleased. Not sure if any of these have been requested/suggested previously as I am new to the forums so please bear with me. These are just a few suggestions that have come up in my household over time. None of these are deal breakers, the program is fantastic, and if the features are available, I may simply be unaware of them. Apologies in advance if that is the case - just point me in the right direction.
1 - Sorting music in libraries by year to be ascending or descending. As stands the media, in this case my fiance’s audiobook library sorts from the newest to the oldest. An option to flip that and display them from the oldest to the newest would manage one of her idiosyncrasies and display them in a more logical ‘series’ order, like books on a shelf.
2 - Still in music, A filter and/or ability to tag albums as studio albums, EP, Single, Live, and Complication, and display them accordingly. With some artists - say the Beatles, I have many of their studio albums, then several Greatest Hits albums, a couple of remasters, then some live albums, etc, that leads to dozens of ‘albums’ to sift through when I only want to find their ‘regular’ albums. An ability to identigy them as such (besides creating it as it’s own Genre tag) and them add/or remove them to refine my results would be fantastic. There is a lot of unused potential in the Tags area besides Genre that could be utilized here, perhaps?
3 - How to handle multiple artist on the same album - such as Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner (don’t judge…). I have Dolly as an artist and I have Porter as an artist, and then I have Dolly & Porter. I don’t want to put it under either artist, as it is s true co-headed album - not one of their albums with a guest star. Nor am i completely satisfied with having three separate artists - Dolly, Porter and then Dolly & Porter. Any suggestions for this one? Ideally, I’d like to have their co-headed albums appear under both their artist listings.
4 - Back to Music libraries for Audiobooks - A couple of minor suggestions. A tag for a series title would also help, as using the series title as a prefix for a book name just creates multiple entities that all state the identical “Lord of the Rings…” instead of the individual titles. Come to think of it, that would be nice for movies as well…
5 - Final nag for Music/Audiobooks - A tag for Narrator. To some, that is as vital as the author itself, and the ability to identify one and then filter by that would be great.
Again, none of these are critical, just things that have come up in our household. I haven’t dove deep into it, so perhaps some of my suggestions are easily solved by some means I haven’t discovered yet. Again, I think this is a fantastic service, and I am more than please with it. Keep up the great work & thanks for your time!
