Sorting/Grouping Music by Release Year in Plexamp

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if Plexamp has any features or functionality that allow sorting or grouping music by release year, in addition to filters like genre. I enjoy reliving specific years of my life through the music from that time and think this would be an amazing feature to enhance the listening experience.

If this functionality already exists, could someone please point me in the right direction? If not, would it be worth raising a feature request?

Thanks in advance for your help!

In Plexamp, view your library (musical note icon on the bottom nav bar) and then select tracks. Select the filter tool (icon with graduated horizontal lines). From there you can add various rules, one of them being album release year (release date and release decade are also options). You can add other filter rules or groups of them (in “Match Any” or “Match All” forms).

Once you have your desired filters set you can click play or shuffle you can back out to the track list again and play or shuffle them. Or, you can save them to a playlist if you think you might want to revisit it again.

Hey thanks very much for the detailed steps! Really glad this is possible and appreciate you taking the time to guide me through.

If you want to see it all your albums from a certain year, you tap on an album from the year you want to see.

Under the band name, you will see the release year, now tap on the release year and you will get an overview of all the albums of that year on your server.

In the upper right corner you will see 3 dots. tap on the 3 dots and you can sort the albums any way you like.

It’s very fast and very effective. I use it all the time.

Since I can do it within seconds any time I like, I have no need to make a playlist of albums sorted on year.

You can put albums together sorted by year on a lasting base, but you have to add the individual album one by one to a collection.

Hey thanks very much for letting me know of another cool and simple way to do this! You’re right it is very quick.

You’re welcome.
