I know this has been floated for a long time as a feature request. A very common way of sorting albums by artists, especially for artists with a large catalog, is by year. Currently, Plex allows you to display all the albums by artist but they sort alphabetically by album title. This is fine but why not give us the option to see releases sorted chronologically? Most other music libraries i’ve used allow this and it’s a great way to browse music collections.
You can set the sorting criterium globally per library between release date and album title.
And you can override this for every album artist individually.
That’s not the case when sorting under album view. If sorting by artist and then viewing a individual artist then yes, the albums are displayed by release date. Using album view, they are still sorted alphabetically.
Ahh, that would be a secondary sorting level. First artist, then album release date.
