I have an interesting problem with one video so far, according to mediainfo the container is MKV, HEVC video and AAC LC SBR (mono) audio.
When playing the video on my TV (Sony Bravia Android Plex app,) the sound gets out of sync rather quickly by getting ahead and continues to get ahead. Pausing the video and starting it again will sync it back up, then the audio starts to get ahead again.
Playing the same video with the plex web app (in chrome), the audio stays in sync with the video just fine. Also downloading the video to my PC and playing it with Windows Media Player, there are no sync issues.
I have tried re-encoding the audio stream with ffmpeg using the -async option but no luck. The video is old, I’m fairly certain it originally came from a Sony Handycam, but at some point it was re-encoded to HEVC and I’m sure the original is long gone.
Any ideas for a fix here? I don’t understand what the difference would be between the Android app and the Web app, so I’m not sure what the issue would be, nor why the difference. I’m looking for the right options or ideas to pass to ffmpeg to repair this issues so it’ll play well in the Android app.
Thanks!
