When I have two or more Movies of the same that are different editions, I add the movies multiple times and rename them.
Does anyone know show to do this with TV series? When I add them and match it groups them with the original TV Series, so I cannot get it out of the play versions.
Plex doesn’t currently support editions for tv-show based content. There’s a feature suggestion to close this gap (iirc this was also discussing the complexities of Plex should support this for shows in total or different editions of episodes etc).
You can only split shows if the episodes are organized in different show-level folders.
After you’ve split them, newly added episodes will show up in the split-show which is linked to that folder.
Not a bug… but workarounds can only get you that far (and Plex does not yet support editions for tv-shows).
I am not sure if you have multiple tv shows that you are wanting to do this with. But a fairly easy and manageable workaround would be to create a new library and name it appropriately and add all the shows that match that description.
For example if most of your shows are widescreen you would have a library called [ TV Shows ] with the majority of you television show library here. Then for all of the ones that are a duplicate shows but in 4:3 standard you could name this library something like [ TV Shows (4:3) ] and add the respective shows to this library. This way you can just navigate to the library format you wish to watch.
