SRT won't play if embedded ASS-sub is present

I have exactly the same problem as this guy:

A file with norwegian embedded ass-subs and next to it an external SRT-file in dutch.
I can select the dutch one on Nvidia shield (2015) but it always turns back to the original ASS sub.

Have you ever found a solution @anon18523487?
