I cannot get my server to work outside my network, rather I do manually port forward (with the port being forwarded in my router) or I do the automatic one I keep getting this error
It always shows my server available outside my network for a short period than says it’s not. I read an article saying that you need to post on the forums for an employee to manually reset the cert, I have spent hours trying to get this to work with no success.
Probably related - if I try to sign in to the Plex forums from within my network, I get hit with Chrome’s SSL warning on https://plex.tv/api/v2/discourse/sso.json?sso=... and I can’t continue past it:
Quite likely something sits between you and the plex servers and is intercepting encrypted traffic. It then decrypts it, inspects the contents, then again encrypts it with its own security certificate. Which is what causes the error message, since the certificate and the domain plex.tv don’t fit each other.
A typical M.O. of corporate firewalls, but also third-party anti virus software on your own computer or router.
Many ISPs are pulling the same trick.
Tell your ISP to keep their noses out of your data packets.
Some ISPs are trying to sell this as a good thing. They tend to call it “internet security” or similar. See if they provide an OFF-switch for such features. Maybe it can help.
