SSO: SingleSignOn for Managed Users (SAML, LDAP, ...)

It would be nice to integrate Plex into SSO of your own hosted environment. From my perspective implementing this with Plex Accounts is very ambitious therefore I would suggest to allow SSO for managed users.

Ideally I would like to see SAML Security Assertion Markup Language - Wikipedia but also LDAP Lightweight Directory Access Protocol - Wikipedia or anything similar would be nice which integrates with existing standards and solutions.

Another question connected to the suggestion: Is there an API point to create a managed User and change his password.
Maybe I could then implement an own solution for now…??!

There’s an existing feature suggestion discussing the option to handle local authentication using LDAP.

Feature Request: LDAP Authentication (optional local authentication)

An option to use local authentication (i.e. LDAP or local users) would be ideal for those wanting to provide remote access to friends/family without providing remote access to plex admins (this is disclosed in the myplex description). Some folks simply want more control over remote access without granting ultimate access to unknown people. A separate landing page for LDAP user login would be cool. Leveraging existing systems that provide user authentication would reduce needed code overhead.

Keep in mind even your managed users require your account to be authenticated.
