Standalone for RPi

Hi guys,

I’m currently using Raspbian 8 with standalone Kodi installed. And I’m considering to switch to OpenPHT. Though I don’t want to format my SD Card and overwrite it with an image of RasPlex, is there a way I can install OpenPHT as a standalone application?

Thanks in advance.

While it should be possible technically, I’d just get a second SD card to play around with on OpenPHT. That way you know there are no unexpected side effects such as library version issues.

It’s not that a simple 8GB sd card is hundreds of euros these days.

It’s always released as embedded for the rPI. You’d be operating in unsupported waters customizing it to run on rasbian 8.

Why not backup your sdcard image and then image rasplex? You can always go back to your backup when you’re done.

Thanks for your replies guys.

I find it unfortunate that you can’t install it as standalone application, nevertheless I noticed that Plex released a preview version of their new media player for embedded devices such as Raspberry PI. I’ve installed it already and saw that several commands like f.e. apt-get are disabled. Is it possible to extend this system? Because I would really like to run other apps than just Plex Media Player on my Pi.

No.
