Star Trek Generations - BluRay - Extras and Rename Alt Audio/Caption Tracks

Server Version#: Version 1.32.5.7328
Player Version#: Plex Web Version 4.108.0

I am trying to figure out how to add the special features from the Star Trek Generations Blu-ray as well as identifying in a user friendly manner the additional audio and caption tracks. For example the movie has two Stereo Commentary Tracks and one Text Based Commentary.

What would be the naming convention?

Ok. Got the movie and special features loaded. However, is there a way to relabel what the features are? My files were the MKV File Names, I would like to have plex show the actual information

FOr example: SF_TRLR_06_02_Theatrical should just be Theatrical Trailer
and SF_UNI_04_03_PicardsAlbum should be: Star Trek Universe: Captain Picard’s Family Album

Have you added those videos to a movie or tv show library?

Adding files as local extras to a movie is fairly straightforward. You can add the videos in the movie folder, using a suffix indicating what type of extra this is or a subfolder for that particular extra type. Plex will then use the file name of the extra (minus the suffix if you’re using the first) when showing the extras alongside your movie.

Example:

Movies <- the directory linked to your movie library
  Movie Name (year)
    Movie Name (year).mkv
    Extra 1-interview.ext
    Behind the Scenes
      Extra 2.ext

In the above example, Plex will add „Extra 1“ as interview and „Extra 2“ as behind-the-scenes extras.

The same is possible for TV shows where you can add local extra for the show, seasons and episodes. For show and season level extras, the naming is in line with that for movies. For episode-level extras it’s a bit more tricky. For those, the base file name must match that of the episode file to the letter.

Example:

TV Shows <- the directory linked to your tv show library
  Show A
    Show Level Extra 1-interview.mkv
    Trailers
      Show Level Extra 2.mkv
    Season 01
      Behind the scenes
        Season Level Extra.mkv
      Show A - s01e01.ext
      Show A - s01e01 - Episode Level Extra-deleted.mkv
      Show A - s01e02 - optional episode title [technical blahblah].mkv
      Show A - s01e02 - optional episode title [technical blahblah] - Episode Level Extra-deleted.mkv

Keep in mind that not all clients are currently capable to display local extras for all tiers of a show (e.g. mobile clients can display all of them, Plex Web will only display show-level extras)

You can set track name and language when ripping a disc with MakeMKV.

Alternately, use MKVToolNix Header Editor or similar tools to tag the tracks appropriately.

Note that not all Plex clients display track names. Plex Web, Android, & Roku clients will display track names. The Plex LG app does not display track names.
