Sorry for being dumb But don’t know what you mean by lma sweep.
Local Media Assets.
Go ahead and demote (lower) it for all the agents now, so you don’t have to later.
Even better, clear out those wrong ‘Title’ meta tags from your files.
mp3tag is a good way to do it.
It can also “optimize your files for streaming” afterwards, which is a good idea when using them with a streaming server like Plex.
Thanks how did they get in the files? I won the whole series on Blu ray but didn’t rip that myself.
There are tons of ripping software or video recoders which embed them.
(Handbrake, I’m looking at you!)
OK i am downloading that now and will run it on the rest of my files that i did rip and I did use handbrake.
Thanks again for all of your help
BTW, good reasons to use MakeMKV first:
- you get an MKV file
- you have the chance to remove the irritating Title Field before it goes anywhere else!
- let’s all join in on a collective fist shake at Handbrake (it’s like Plex in that you have to use it, so whatever it does you have to deal with it)
I also have my Windows Explorer set to display that ‘Preview Pane/Details Pane’ (whatever it is) so that I can just delete any of that nonsense that sneaks through…:
highlight/delete/save (may take more than just a moment).
I convert all of my stuff to mkv actually but i didn’t rip this one, is it good to convert it to mkv?
MKV is a more capable container, but it depends what you need to feed your devices/clients. If you don’t need MP4s, then don’t make any.
Thanks for all your wisdom
You can easily swap containers, but it’s way easier to demote Local Media Assets everywhere it can cause pain and suffering… and delete Title Fields every chance you get.
You mean remove the tag ?
yep…
My OCD requires no Title Fields appear in ANY media.
I also have LMA demoted everywhere.
I’m a belt AND suspenders kind of guy… lol
I am new to all of this so thanks for the info removing tags on everything I can right now.
One of the advantages of mp4 is, that more devices are able to direct play it. Still, you can rip to mkv and let Plex convert to mp4 by optimising the respective file if it is necessary.
If you mainly use clients that can easily direct play mkvs, that should be the way to go.
And you can select many at once, goto properties and clear out the titles.
Hundreds can be processed in a few second.
It depends how the file is created.
Handbrake created files will take ‘a long time’ to remove that Title Field. Something about having to re-write the entire file, which is painful enough it’ll make you remember to take it out way before then. Of that I am certain… lol
I suppose it can. It has something to do with mdat atom comes before/after the moov atom. Can’t remember what order for “fast” title removal.
Yea, I don’t know the details, but that sounds about right.
(most of what I ‘Acquire’ has it done so that it’s dealt with easily - ALL of what I created took forever… that much I do remember!)
