We’ll have to agree to disagree. The posts that were removed were about general PMP comments, not Live TV related.
Thanks for the clarification. That makes perfect sense
Yesterday, I watched 2 NFL games with the Win10 PMS and NV Shield client. Again, worked perfectly with a 1 hr timeshift. If I get some time later, I will test PMP. I also have a Roku TV (not standalone Roku) and will test that and report on the results. Seems the Roku devices are still having lots of problems.
Do you know which version of each you’re using? I know I’m on the latest Beta of PMS 1.16.6.1592-b9d49bdb7. I only just found where to get the beta version of Plex on Nvidia Shield, so I intend to test with that after work. Was having issues with the standard version last week though, so that’s why I ask if you know which versions worked for you. I’ll test again this morning with PMP, web app, and Plex for Windows app as well.
I just want to chime in with my own issues experienced yesterday. I was recording an NFL game which was almost over when I selected the “start from the beginning” option and instead of the beginning it started in the middle of the third quarter, maybe 30m earlier than ‘live’. So that was extremely frustrating, spoiling the score like that.
Also, it’s annoying how you can’t even find the recordings as they’re happening without going to the tv guide, which the LG app doesn’t even have. The NV shield does, but there still aught to be a “recordings” section in every plex app that ALSO shows the ones being recorded right now, not just the finished ones, AND it should have ‘resume from ____’ like finished videos have.
Everything I’m talking about here is basic DVR functionality.
PMS = 1.16.6.1592
Shield = 7.21.0.12255
OK, I’ll play…
I just searched on both my ATV4K and my ROKU Ultra for both PMP and Plex Media Player in their respective “stores”. NO results on either.
I’m sure it’s operator error because there’s no way you’d be discussing something that isn’t available to probably the bulk of your subscriber base in the streaming world.
Please provide a list of supported platforms and their respective download links.
Thanks in advance.

Agree 100%. I usually set my games up to record 60 minutes late…if I try to start after the game has ended in the guide, I’m outta’ luck.
PMP is a Plex client for Windows and Mac, not for Roku. This is not a Roku thread. Its a Live TV DVR thread for all PMS and client types.
I got the beta version on my Pixel 2 XL (7.21.0.12255) and had no issues playing my in-progress recording and time-shifting. I’ll try my Shields tonight but I’m hopeful now! Windows player still seems kinda funky but I already submitted logs for that a couple weeks ago…
I already knew that.
THAT is why PMP was not for this discussion regardless of what was said. I’ll bet that less than 2% of the LiveTV/DVR users have PMP. Between ATV4K and ROKU, the vast majority of users have problems.
THAT was the whole point.
PLEX is trying to hide another disaster by allowing PMP fanboys to report here. Good luck when they pull the rug from under you again in the very near future.
You can have a look here if you want to know what’s supported. This thread is open to anyone who has issues with watching recordings in progress, on any client. No one is hiding anything. Let’s keep this on topic, and avoid speculating about unrelated things.
I’m also having this issue. Synology DS118 NAS, streaming through NVIDIA Shield TV.
I try to watch a football game mid-recording, select “watch from start”, and it starts playing at the current time. If I try to go back, or use any transport controls, it freezes and I need to quit Plex and start over.
Recordings work flawlessly once they are done. DS118 supports transcoding on the fly, so can someone please tell me what I need to do to make this work?
Thanks!
Bill
Just adding my “This is broke for me also” comment. I use channels app for now, but this doesnt help my remote users that access my plex server for live TV. Football season has my remote family “un-cutting the cord” and pulling cable back into their house because they want to watch football. Hopefully fixed soon. Plex was once hailed as the most awesome thing in our house, now its the most cursed at.
Use Channels DVR if you want it to ‘just work’.
Hello Jnwplexu - Thanks for replying. I’m not sure what you mean by Channels DVR. I assume you mean just record the channel, not the show listed in the guide. But I’m not seeing how to do that…
Thanks!
What he means in a 3rd party app called “Channels”. This app allows viewing LiveTV from your local sources (e.g. HDHomeRuns) directly without using Plex. It works amazing and doesn’t perform any transcoding. It operates exactly how any service offering a LiveTV option should work. The only problem with Channels app is 1.) It’s not Plex so it doesn’t really help solve this problem with Plex (which needs to!) and 2.) Channels App is only usable when physically on the same network as the HDHomeRun devices (you could connect to a home VPN but I’m experienced it runs super slow). One of the reasons Channels App isn’t the answer is for users (like myself) that have a ton of family (home users) that need to access LiveTV remotely.
I am talking about a different DVR altogether, not Plex.
This DVR software works so much better than Plex. It’s more expensive, but it’s worth it:

Best Regards,
Thank you, nduda and jnwplexu!
LiveTV works great remotely on the Channels DVR app. I watched a football game over my mobile network (Verizon) last weekend. The app even sets up a certificate for you so that the credentials are secure when logging in remotely.
Also Live TV works perfectly on Emby, I left Plex after sooo many years a couple of months ago because of this issue, was great to watch the F1 an hour after it started without any issues and the misses can watch Bake-Off after it has started and can fast forward the adverts whilst still recording, haven’t tried channels, heard it’s good but Emby works for me!
