Start Watching Recording in Progress from Beginning(Failing)

Still 100% not working on ROKU Stick, Stick+, or Ultra (2018).

Still 100% not working on ATV4K

Why continue to post that your Shield works? I don’t necessarily believe it from what I’ve seen but repeatedly saying that the Shield works doesn’t change the fact that the majority of the devices in use do NOT work (I provided backup to the claim of devices in use above based on market saturation).

I tried yesterday’s Preview release and the most recent server release (3d ago I believe) even though neither showed any indication of any progress on any of these problems based on the announcements.

EDIT 11/11 - Went over to help my neighbor put in a Gb connection back to his office. He has an android TV and a PLEX setup but rarely uses it for LiveTV/DVR. All the items reported in this thread did not work on his setup either.

Timeshift on my son’s RokuTV is not working. It is very spotty. That platform still needs to be fixed. Frankly my son’s RokuTV is being used as a gaming computer monitor and nothing else. We never use any of the Roku apps. The Plex app on the RokuTV did not timeshift properly and still needs to be fixed.

To remain positive and confirm that progress has been made on the issue.

Needs work?

It doesn’t work at all. No progress and no change in months. The issues are not even mentioned in the release notes as being worked. Three very recent releases for the server, the ATV4K and the ROKU and not one mention of any of these issues.

Sorry, there’s positive and there’s spin. I believe someone claimed to have success on the shield months ago. How is that progress? I saw an Android TV fail yesterday, just like the ROKU.

Sorry but the majority of devices do not function as a basic LiveTV/DVR 101.

I have to admit I haven’t put the timeshifting while recording issue through the paces on my PC. I thought one of the devs said way back it sounded like a server issue, so I’ve foolishly assumed clients all performed the same. I might finally have time this weekend to try it out on my web client, but, not practical for me in the long run since I’d rather save myself the trouble of firing up the HTPC and fumbling around with the not-so-great remote control functions from the couch. (I miss you Win7 Media Center!)

Oh yea, the OTA re-pack is taking place in my neck of the woods and because of technical difficulties and a lack of enough tower crews I now only have NBC and a few subs until February or so. No CBS/ABC/FOX and their subs to add insult to injury in the Dayton Ohio market. It would be awesome if this DVR mess was fixed right about when I get my over-the-air debacle fixed.

Just did a quick and dirty* test while recording the Nightly News, the web app does seem to work better. Now, we wait patiently for the Roku client fix for timeshifting.

[when I say quick and dirty, it really was simply a few minutes jostling around in the NBC news as it recorded. Worked, didn’t bother to pause it and leave for a bit to test when restarting, which is an issue on Roku, because 30 minutes isn’t enough to bother.]

I don’t know what Android TV you saw fail, but it is definitely working on my two Shield TV boxes with latest updates from both nVidia and Plex over here. I have no reason to lie about this and you are most welcome to come over to see for yourself.

It is also working perfectly on my two LG TVs.

Neither of these types of devices were working a few months ago and they are working for me now, so for me that is progress.

YOU personally first reported the shield working almost 2 months ago. I didn’t go back any further but I believe 1 or 2 others may have mentioned it a month or two before that.

I personally observed an Android TV not working and I own ATV4K and ROKU devices (Stick/Stick+/Ultra) that don’t work and haven’t worked in who knows how long. The majority of the posts in this thread report the same.

Again, the evidence indicates there has been no progress for months based on your personal posts/account and a year or more based on the accounts of others for non-shield devices and non-PMP users (very low percentage of devices). Since PLEX won’t tell us about their user base, one can only use market saturation metrics for this purpose.

From reading release notes, still no progress on this issue so critical to so many of us!

Dude. Move on.

You move on.

Triggered? These forums are to get issues addressed and I’m articulating issues about the product.

I believe your comment is probably off topic and not allowed and reported as such.

Yesterday I observed the aforementioned Android TV fail again in a manner consistent with what is being reported in this thread.

Just tested the newest releases of the Server, ROKU, and ATV4K. I believe theses were “official releases” from the Beta/Preview channels but thought I’d try anyway. I saw no mention in any of the release announcements of any proposed fixes to the issues in this thread. Appears to be no progress towards resolution of the issues.

Don’t mistake no release notes with no progress. Just because there’s nothing publicly available yet doesn’t mean issues aren’t being investigated and solved.

Again, I am sorry that it is not yet working on your ATV4K and ROKU devices. I really do hope that Plex will release an update that resolves this issue for you soon.

OK but in a previous post you referred us to the release notes to show progress.

Again, stop twisting my words. Previously, you said no progress had been made on the DVR at all. I replied saying that if you look at the release notes, you can see we’re frequently working on improving the DVR. So there are always things being investigated and resolved.

Not twisting your words. I said previously as I’ll say again, there has been no observable progress on the issues listed in this thread with regards to the platforms I’ve reported on, primarily the ATV4K and the ROKU (Ultra/Stick+/Stick 2018).

At your suggestion I went and reviewed the release notes for a number of releases back and see no mention of any of these issues. I’ve tried to be diligent on testing each release and see no obvious improvements.

Given all that, just how do we know what is being worked and when we could expect any improvements?

Wouldn’t it be easier to tell us the plan instead of leaving us guessing? After more than a year, mere promises that things are being worked don’t seem appropriate.

Let me add, Plex is a fantastic bargain compared to other software driven DVR’s. It does many things in addition to recording OTA shows. The hangup for me, especially as a football nut, is time shifting. More times than not I will miss the first half of a football game and then I will come home and start zipping through commercials, time outs etc. Unfortunately this just doesn’t work with Plex. I would love to buy a lifetime Plex pass but I just can’t do it when this problem persists. Plex if you are listening make fixing this a priority so I can quit paying $8.00 a month for a one trick pony. BTW that one trick pony works extremely well. It has been almost sixteen months since the first post in this thread and Plex time shifting is still not fixed. IMHO time shifting is one of the basic advantages of a DVR. Until this is fixed count me out.

I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s as if you typed this post for me.
