so is that 1.14 going to be hitting us beta users sometime soon?
I installed 1.14 this morning, will let schedule some recording going through the weekend to see if there are any hiccups.
@sa2000 Thanks you for keeping up with this!
Okay, I too am only getting one day of EPG. Am I understanding you correctly that this is a widespread problem and not directly related to the dev version?
Just in case you need more data here are logs and the JSON files from my server this morning. (1.14 was installed Friday morning around 8:15 cst)logs.zip (4.6 MB)
@baendres, since installing 1.14, I have not had any issues viewing live tv on multiple clients or missing recordings. Now hopefully this EPG issue gets corrected soon
Officially following this thread too, now. I just set up Live TV with Comcast recently, and when using it on the Shield, I’m seeing the same symptoms. I switch to the Roku or Web afterward, and it won’t work there either afterward. Looking forward to the beta if it’s expected to fix it.
small update. I have manually tired to update the EPG but it goes to about 14% and then stops.
There is an EPG issue with Gracenote that is still happening with a lot of requests getting bounced with the JSON containing the 403 Forbidden error. We are in discussions with Gracenote at this moment and they are investigating
was the EPG issue resolved? I have not upgraded to the latest 1.14.x server version because on the last 1.13.x I was still getting guide for the regular period not just 1 day
I believe they are saying the EPG issue is related to Gracenote not Plex. 1.14 doesn’t change anything in that respect, but it definetly seems to have fixed the aborted recordings error and unable to tune. I haven’t had that error yet since I upgraded a few days ago.
ok thanks … I still have guide data for the next 13 days … but I see that a lot of people are reporting guide data issues getting unknowns programs or empty guide data plus having to manually refresh the data … I wonder if the issue is for all TV providers … I have Verizon FIOS and my guide still showing for the next 13 days … I wonder if the issue is Gracenote for TV guide when using Comcast or OTA
A fix for errors in tuning reported in this forum thread has now been released in Plex Media Server beta 1.14.0.5465-425e4ac90
See Re;ease Note Plex Media Server
- (DVR) Recordings would sometimes fail at the start with “Error 3 (The recording was aborted)”. (#8871)
Thanks to everyone who participating in testing the fix in development build 1.14.0.5464-f834330cf - anyone with the development build should now update to the official beta 1.14.0.5465-425e4ac90
@plexuser1427 I upgraded to 1.14.0.5465 and ran a fresh EPG scan and it completed 100%. So either Plex fixed it with latest beta release or coincidently Gracenote fixed it.
@sa2000 Thank, you for all your work on getting this bug fixed. I I have not had any aborted recordings or failure to tune live TV since the update. I just installed the latest beta release.
Thanks again!!
I upgraded and I still have my 13-14 days of guide. So it might be fixed from Gracenote side
Yes the EPG Update JSON Parse Errors with Error 403 should be fixed now
So I had revert back to 1.13.9.5456-ecd600442 … today I had multiple scheduled recording aborted … Live TV might be ok but there is something strange going on with scheduled recordings… I even tried restarting the server and the recording kept failing and asked me to check my tuner antenna… After reverting back to 13.9, the recording that was failing started successfully … not sure why my server got into that state .and I wasn’t able to do any troubleshooting because this is my main server and I have several scheduled recordings for tonight. I am wondering if anyone else experiencing the issue …
did you download any logs ?
no but i can, i haven’t had any aborted scheduled recordings but it does say that when i stop watching live tv. let me check the logs and see if there are some 403 in there.
File “/usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Resources/Plug-ins-425e4ac90/Framework.bundle/Contents/Resources/Platforms/Shared/Libraries/urllib2_new.py”, line 565, in http_error_default

@sa2000 I sent you a Direct Message with my server logs and information on the issue I am experiencing. I actually had to downgrade to Version 1.13.8.5395
