Still new/learning--it seems that if my laptop is off I cannot access my music on iPhone, fixable?

I saw articles about Remote Access/Server Relay–but I’m not even seeing the screen shots shown on my app or iPhone 6S. Any help will be very appreciated. Basically I want to access all my music from iPhone and retire my old ipod classic. Thanks.

What I’ve noticed early on is my iPhone would not connect to my laptop when it was off.

First off, start here: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200288286-What-is-Plex-

What you want to do is easily doable. but it does require an always on machine running Plex Media Server. If you want access remotely 9outside of your home) you will need to enable remote access within PMS, and probably do a Port Forward on your router. (Find out how to do this in your router’s manual.)

Thanks so much, Mike. I’ll need to find a block of time and tackle—so please keep an eye out for any new questions! To me the whole attraction was access to my music remotely ANY time and any place I had connectivity. Mainly cellular. Needing my laptop not only on, but running seems to put a real damper on this. I left my laptop on yesterday when I headed out and knowing it was “asleep” after some hours, I tried and as I suspected, could not access Plex.

The only way you’ll be able to do this without having your server computer on is to use the Cloud server, which is still in beta.
