Stop programmes being matched as Live

How do i stop my Live sports recordings from being incorrectly matched as the TV series ‘Live’

Whenever i do a recording of live sport that has a title beginning ‘Live: A football match’ it then auto matches it to a TV series called Live. It never used to do this and its very frustrating because when you unmatch the recordings they have then lost the correct title and info.

Bumpity bump
Is no one else having this issue. It’s going to drive me mad with the rugby World Cup coming up.

I also have this issue using xTeVe.

I’m using xteve to process xmltv file from schedules direct but i dont think this is the issue. Its plex matching the programme incorrectly. Is anyone from plex going to acknowledge this, its really frustrating.

@sa2000 would you be able to get someone to look at this issue its really starting to annoy me. With so much live sport on at the moment its really difficult to know what sport has been recorded when you un match. Plex really needs to start ignoring the ‘Live:’ part of the programme title.

There is nothing for me here to go on to investigate. I would need:
Country/Zip Code/Lineup name/channel number and channel name/examples of airings for future events

But …. I have been looking into other Sports events recordings and have given a suggestion which appears to make it better. See NFL Recordings - #22 by sa2000

sorry - I just saw that you are using xmltv … but I can still investigate using equivalent EPG data

@sa2000 Do you need me to upload any logs or my xmltv file.

Initially I need to reproduce using epg data
So would need zip code / channel number and name and example airing time for future date

My postcode is DL6 its the Tyne Tees area in the UK. I’ve included a screenshot showing 3 live sports events on BBC1, BBC2 and ITV.
I’m using XMLTV file created from Schedules Direct. This is the TV series that plex would match them upto Live

Hope this helps.

Same problem for me, I’m using XMLTV file created from Schedules Direct. I tried to manually fix this using “Rugby World Cup” (title) from TVDB, but then the episodes are all screwed up!

If I view the filenames I have something live this: ‘Live World Cup Rugby Union - S2019E44 - Australia v Fiji.ts’

This is crackers! :frowning:

On the Plex EPG - the titles are slightly different so this specific example of incorrect matching would not arise

But I do acknowledge that there is an issue with matching and labeling the recording of Sports events and the only available recommendation that I have at the moment is to create a TV Library for Sport and in Advanced edit the agent to switch to Personal Media - see the post I linked to earlier

Could you let me have the exact directory paths and file name of the recordings and I will add it to the other examples that I have already referred to the development team

Ive setup another folder as you suggest but its an ugly work around as I now have 2 TV recording folders. The only reason i’m Using a XMLTV file is because of the now terrible UK guide data( I know that’s not your fault, you’re just trying to sort it out).

After the update to 1.18.0.1846 im still getting this problem.
@sa2000

There were no changes for this

Did you try my suggestion for having a sports events TV library with Personal Media Shows as the agent ? I mentioned it early on here Stop programmes being matched as Live - #6 by sa2000

Yes ive done that(and it works), but it means having 2 recorded items folders, not the best work around. @sa2000

Update:

Plex Media Server 1.18.2.2029 has just been released as beta

It has the changes for sports and news which led to incorrect matching of recordings. The changes also fix the issue when recording multiple sports games on the same day

  • (DVR) Preserve EPG metadata when assimilating Sports and News recordings. (#10544)

Sports and News recordings will no longer get matched with tvdb and will preserve the EPG data
