I’m able to download tonight’s movie in under three minutes. But when I drop it into “Hollywood Folder” my system thinks it needs to scan my TV Shows folder to ensure that a new episode of Perry Mason from 1958 hasn’t been added first. I hit… cancel scan a thousand times I hit… scan Hollywood folder and Plex just ignores and I sit here an hour plus later wanting to watch this one movie that Plex is taking it’s sweet time finding…
What can I do different…??
You cannot do a partial scan for new files like that. The “Scan Library File” is for the entire library regardless of what is shown on the screen.
If you want to do partial scans, the easiest way is to set your server to automatically scan for files when a new file is seen. Enable these 2 options on your server.
You mention adding a movie, but then notice it scanning TV Shows. Are you using a separate library for movies and shows, or a combined “Personal Media” library? You should use the former pair of options, so it won’t have to scan your entire TV Library every time a new file is added to your movies.
