Stop Unhiding and Reenabling the Streaming Section, PLEASE

Server Version#: 1.21.4.4079
Player Version#: All Players

Growing sick of this. I have the feature disabled at the server level and yet on a weekly basis I have to hide them in the sidebar and home screen within apps. The feature is disabled, the player apps aren’t respecting that I have disabled this awful feature.

I reported this in November (Stop Re-Pinning “Movies & TV” - #11) and had my concerns dismissed by a Plex Ninja. It still keeps happening. This isn’t being caused by something I am doing wrong there is a bug in your software. Please fix it.

As an aside, Newsmax is a far-right conspiracy network and every last person at Plex should be ashamed your company is spreading this nonsense. Non-Americans don’t deserve this nonsense put into their Plex setup.

Yeah. I wish they would remove the feature altogether. But if you’re going to keep it, could you at least a) stop re-enabling and b) remove hate speech/insurrection advocates. If I hadn’t purchased the lifetime sub years ago, I would be cancelling.

This has happened again. All online sources that are disabled on my server once again showed up on the home screen and pinned to the sidebar.

If this is a bug, fix it. If the user options are being ignored to force people to see the streaming service, stop it.

Not only have they reappeared, but no matter how many times I disable and save changes on each individual pin, it doesn’t take, they immediately repopulate with this online crap.

Having same issue but the feature doesn’t stay disabled on the server. Change the setting leave page or refresh to only to see that it’s enabled.

This is disgusting. I paid for a lifetime membership so I can run my own server using my own media. I have zero interest in seeing PLEX pure garbage movies. What gives?

Emby wasn’t very stable when I looked at it a few years ago, seems they’ve come a long way since then. Someone else also turned me on to Jellyfin. I’m setting up test servers and libraries on both of these programs this weekend.

With the constant regressions, features that nobody asked for or wants, ingoring feature requests for years, dependence on active internet to play local media, I think Plex has finally pushed me to the other side.

agreed!! soon there will be a food order menu because nobody sells a product anymore without wanting to double and triple dip. no pun intended.

It was not intentional. We are looking into it.

I’m very glad to hear it. Thanks for responding.

There was a deploy to fix this as afaik it should revert your Online Media Sources settings to disabled if you had them disabled previously.

Unfortunately, in my case, I had all of it enabled and all of it was disabled sometime today. I was listening to podcasts this morning and it was all gone this afternoon. Then I found the setting in Settings → Online Media Sources and found that I couldn’t toggle them to “Enabled” :frowning: I would click “Save Changes” and those changes would not update–I would click to a different page, back again, and everything was disabled.

yep that seems to have fixed it (at least for me) they are all showing as disabled and the settings seem to stick.
