I have videos that aren’t in databases (shorts, home videos, documentaries) and it would be great to have folders leverage metadata in the folder when in folder view

Metadata in folders… such as nfo files?
Natively supporting .NFO files for metadata as part of the Local Media Assets would go a long way for helping people with tons of home movies, alternative versions of films/tv shows, and other difficult to scrape content.
Does that mean that in future all images, backgrounds, and descriptions will be stored in the film folder?

I’ve only linked an existing feature suggestion which seems to already address what the OP is asking for.
You can already store local media assets like images and backgrounds alongside your media.
