Store metadata

Dear all,

I have the QNAP TS-877 with 64GB RAM, 6No. 10TB WD NAS HHD’s, 2 Samsung 1TB SSD’s and 2 WD 2TB m.2 SSD’s along with a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti video card.

I would like to know how to do the following:

Transcode Plex using the RAM

Have Plex’s Metadata on the 1st m.2 SSD and have Plex’s Thumbnails on the 2nd m.2 SSD.

PS. I’ve spoken to Qnap and they suggested I come here.

All metadata ( including thumbnails) are in various folder per item in the plex data folder. There is a metadata folder but I don’t recommend separating it out, I suppose you can do with symlinks but I dunno if QNAP supports those.

If I may add to BigWheel,

Attempting to break apart Plex’s metadata and thumbnails is considered "custom and not supportable.

We do support the “Migrate To” function provided by QTS.

If you decide to break the internal structure below that into pieces, please be advised that the QPKG “Migrate To” function will no longer work as documented.

Any data you place out in a non-standard location would be orphaned if you further move the data and later uninstall

This having been said, Is it not possible to move around your storage from one SSD to the 2nd SSD such that you can put all of PMS on one SSD ?

SSDs have a 535 MB/sec throughput so there is nothing to gain by separating it.

Thank you, I’ll look into this, hope I don’t break anything!
