Store Plex library database & settings on external drive?

Is there a way how I can install Plex Media Server on my Pi and store the Plex data on an external drive?

I seem to have to reinstall my Raspbian quite a lot each time I mess up and have to do a reinstall so maybe it’s possible to at least win some time and save Plex data on an external drive… I don’t know…
