Strange Ethernet Issue.

I have come across the strangest issue. Have you seen anything this odd before because I haven’t…

When I address the Rasplex machine via generic DHCP it gets a pool address and runs fine but it doesn’t get a consistent address which I want because I’m going to setup an audio sink so h other systems in the room can output without a mixer.

Normally I would specify address by MAC, which if I do it works… however every 3-4 minutes the network drops out for about 30-45 seconds then comes back. If I setup with manual addressing I get the same behaviour. I’ve confirmed no address conflicts.

So… weird eh?

so, you are streamming audio from the PMS to the Pi and your network goes down

how is your network behaving at that time? do you loose packages? those the switch router goes down? does it happens when the pi caches the next song/movie/track? All your setup is wired or you have also wifi traffic? What is your peak of traffic before it fails?

Seems like you are having network problems and I would blame the switch / router as the probable cause. But on a large environment I know Rasplex can cause some network issues if you dont use a traffic shaping solution.
