Strange green-ish corruption appear while playing some files

Server Version#: 1.26.2.5797 (win10)
Player Version#: 5.38.1 (plex for xbox)

I’m trying to play some movies from my collection (server on windows 10), through the plex client on my xbox series x. And all I see are interruptions and green bars all over the screen.

My PC: GTX970+I5-4690+16GB Ram
I tried to turn off all possible transcoders, but nothing helps. By the way, the same movie plays fine through the vlc player on windows.

Many thanks

Seems like you have a network problem where packets are being dropped. With a file this size it would be ideal that you connect your tv to your router using a UTP cable.
Have you checked your connections?

PC and Xbox are connected by cable. No problems with the Internet

perhaps I should set some specific settings for the server if I only need to play content locally?

Enabling remote access won’t affect the local experience.
Do you have the same problem with other files? Do these problems happen in scenes where you have a lot of action, or it’s completely random?
Are you direct playing this file?

this problem is on several films, there is no pattern. It does not depend on how loaded the picture in film

Forgot to add. This and other problematic files play without problems on my PC through VLC

When you’re playing this file, go to your dashboard and check if the file is being transcoded or not. (I guess it is because of the dts audio)

As far as I understand, no transcoding.

Perhaps you need to show the contents of the concocted menu items?

Apparently you don’t have access to the information Plex Pass users have. Not sure though

very strange since I have a subscription. give me a minute, I’ll try again

What do you think? I think we have a transcode here

Just audio is being transcoded. Unfortunately I don’t know what’s happening with your setup. Let’s hope a Ninja shows up to help you

I seem to understand what’s going on. if I turn on a passthrough on my console, then the green bars disappear, because the audio is not re-encoded. but in this case, I have no sound because my receiver does not support passthrough. it would be great to be able to disable audio conversion and leave it as it is.

It’s not that the receiver doesn’t support passthrough. It’s that your receiver cant or isn’t decoding DTS and you dont have any audio tracks that arent DTS. what type of receiver do you have? Also, do you have a surround sound setup? Finally, does your receiver support e-arc?

I will try to explain what is in my setup. The sound from my xbox goes to HDMI extractor (it have HDMI ARC), further, the sound from this extractor goes through an optical cable to my stereo DAC, and from it the sound goes through two RCA cables to my acoustic. that is, in fact, I have no surround sound, only stereo speakers, and a large monitor.

I assumed that audio encoding could be disabled in the same way as video. Because my computer works exactly like this when I run VLC, the sound that I hear is not perfect, there may be strong drops in volume, but at least it is there.

VLC on PC handles audio differently. Your setup is very unique and the extractor might be the issue. Does your DAC and extractor bother convert DTS? Try another audio stream, I see that one of them is just standard DTS and not DTS-HD. The older xbox OS would allow you to pick the audio type to send to the receiver lie aac, dts or stream and they changed that I think. I literally just got my series X today so i haven’t gotten a chance to mess around with settings yet.

Thanks for the help. I will definitely try a little later, maybe something will work out.
