My router keeps reporting a destination IP address of 192.168.0.105 is being used. It appears that this is happening through DLNA. The Problem is that I do not have anything on a 0 Subnet everything is on 1. What is Plex doing that would require this IP address?
When I use: sudo netstat -antp | grep 192.168.0.105 I get back:
tcp 0 1 192.168.1.100:52898 192.168.0.105:60006 SYN_SENT 9482/Plex DLNA Serv
The DLNA server does not normally jump subnets. That would seem to indicate that you have something mis-configured in your network somewhere.
Check the router’s settings and firewall configuration and make sure all addresses are correct, likewise with the DSM Firewall in Control Panel > Security > Firewall, if you have it enabled.
Check all of your devices, TV’s, Phones, Tablets etc., and their network settings and if any of your devices have DLNA specific settings, check those also.
Check the settings in Plex Settings > Server > DLNA. The image below shows the default DLNA settings:
Also check Plex Settings > Server > Network and make sure you have not incorrectly set LAN Networks, Custom server access URL’s or List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth.
Also check that Preferred network interface is properly set to your NAS adapter/IP Address.
Don’t forget to click on Save Changes if you make any changes at all.
Thanks for the Info, and yes I have checked everything I could find. I use the Ubiquitous Dream Machine SE Router which also servers for DHCP, and all is on the 1 subnet. That is why I am still scratching my head. I also use the Advanced IP scanner and cannot find that IP. I was thinking that it was something internal that the Plex was doing. For a very short time when setting up a TP-Link WiFi router to change it to an AP I had to reset it to the default settings which was on a 0 subnet. That may have gone out to some devices but it has been months since then so I thought it would clear. Still I cannot find a 192.168.0.105 anywhere.
Additional Information: I have setup a firewall policy to block the NAS (Plex) 192.168.0.105 IP and it is blocking it every 5 minutes.
Do you share anyone else’s plex server?
I notice that plex searches for the local ips that are on other peoples network.
e.g. I run on 192.168.2 my remote son runs on 192.168.1.
I see my local plex looking for devices on 192.168.1 that correspond to his plex servers local address.
I think the solution was to uncheck the Settings > Server > Network and uncheck “Enable local network discovery (GDM)”. I will know after a few days.
