Often when I leave Plex and begin watching cable TV or watching You Tube via Apple TV 4K, something happens to Plex. When I try again to use Plex, a movie or TV show (usually whatever I was watching previously) will appear on my TV screen, but I cannot get rid of it. Neither the movie button nor the TV show button that appear on the left side of the screen will let me select the program I want. I can see that I am connected to Plex, but that’s all. Rebooting my computer usually fixes the problem, but even that didn’t work yesterday.
Being new to Plex, I cannot tell whether I’m doing something wrong or Plex is experiencing a hiccup. My media files are contained on two external hard drives, which tend to go to sleep when not used for a while. Is that the cause of the problem? Or does Plex simply “time out” after being idle for 30 minutes of so? If that is true, how does that affect users who have Plex Server located on a NAS rather than a computer?
