Strange Server Crash and unable to update or cliam my server

Hi

I recently updated to version 9.16.1 and installed PlexPY

Now my PMS is behaving very strange…

First of all. on the server general tab where it displays the version and check for updates it now displays “Something Went Wrong” and to manually install the server (WTF happened?)
So I click the link it takes me to the server download page.

I download the current version from the site and it’s version is 9.1600.1754-23623fb (What Version is That???)

So I try to manually install it and the install fails with error
0x80070666 - Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue… Then it tells me to remove the current installed version and re-install with this totally different version.

What is going on here???

Also
I can log into plex
but it tells me to claim my server
I try to do that by signing in with the same credentials I use to log in and it says incorrect username or password.
So now it seems Plex Pass is failing as I cannot successfully claim the server. NO REMOTE ACCESS!!

Can anyone please explain what is going on and the best way to resolve the issue??

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
John

The current 16.1 release has a bug in it which makes it useless on Windows systems. Uninstall from the control panel and install 16.0 - https://plex.tv/downloads/1/archive

@Peter_W

Gees… What is the nature of the problem??

Any estimate on when it will be fixed???

If I remove and re-install with the prior version, will It mess up my database??

Please advise before I uninstall and re-install.

Thanks
John

A fix is in the works and will be available shortly as stated above. The uninstallation will not touch your database or such. But as always with software and technology, even if the risk is minimal - backup is always a nice way of covering all bases (and this should be done regularly regardless). https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201539237-Backing-Up-Plex-Media-Server-Data

Thanks for the help!!!
