so…my plex server shows that there is an update to the above version, i click(within plex) to update…it seems to download then i click install now…it runs through the process yet at the end A) it still shows that an update to version 1.15.0.647 is available and B) that my current version is 1.14…i have been on the plex website to manually download this update and install but that shows as version 1.14…anybody have any idea whats going on with this update…is it available or not? and if so, how do i get it?
I’m having the same issue, The “install update” inside plex hasn’t worked in a long time… The website www.plex.tv/downloads shows version 14.x even with plex pass on.
Until now shrapnel, the install update has worked perfectly for me…I’m glad it’s not just me though that’s having this issue, hopefully plex will sort this issue out quickly. Thanks for the reply
After browsing the forum, it appears they pulled the update after it caused crashing and other issues.
Is this on Windows?
could you get the server logs - hopefully they still cover the time when you did this. Alternatively try it again and then get the logs
Also see if version 1.15.0 has a package within the Updates
directory within the Plex Media Server App Data

Hi sa2000,
Yeh it is windows…found out since making the post that the update has been withdrawn at the moment due to crashing issues…so for the time being all is good thank you for your reply though much appreciated
FYI - It never worked if you’re running Plex as a service. Always had to do a manual install.
REGARDLESS there is nothing fixed that I can see in this release after 2 months.
-
Still severe pixelation with LiveTV on ROKU Stick. Network is testing at 90+, other apps like YTTV are fine, LiveTV plays fine on Ultra.
-
Channel tuning still slow and unreliable
-
Guide shows up mostly empty on occasion after tuning failure. This usually precedes a server crash. Classic memory leak symptoms but reports have been ignored.
-
Episodes fail to record
Is there a bug thread for this release??? EMBY is working flawlessly!
Has this update really been pulled? My windows install told me yesterday morning a new version was available, but when I went to the Plex Pass downloads page, the only version available was the run from December. I used the download button from the web app (I usually don’t use that, but tried it this time) and the file was downloaded and installed.
According to the settings, my server is running the new version, and it’s been running and streaming both remotely and locally without issue, and hasn’t crashed (yet)
The downloads page for the Windows version still shows only the old version available for Plex Pass downloads.
No it has not been pulled. It just seemed to take a while to get the web page showing the correct downloads. (They seem to be showing the correct 1.15 downloads now)
I think there might be an issue with the rpm builds, but I think they are working on that one
I do not believe it was withdrawn. There were caching issues and the download pages were not showing the new version. There is now a new build 1.15.0.659 and availability of download links
(But if there is an issue with auto updater through the web - then I would like to know and have logs for it please with debug logging enabled beforehand)
See new build note
I do not want to see you trolling forum threads posting as this
If you have issues - raise topics for them with diagnostics.
If you had enough of Plex - then walk away please
@elan already offered you a refund
**Update: Libraries were moved to “lib” directory breaking the script I have been using to make updates.
I was able to download 1.15.0.659 directly from the Plex web client, however it does not appear to be a full update. That is, there are dozens of libraries not included in the archive resulting in Plex Media Server failing to start after performing update.
The update I downloaded is PlexMediaServer-1.15.0.659-9311f93fd-FreeBSD-amd64.tar
The update script you mentioned stopped working is the one in get done by mrworf (plexupdate) ?
Cheers,
I use PMS_Updater which can be found here: https://github.com/luluhoc/PMS_Updater
Thanks !
To chime in, I still can’t see version 1.15.0.659 when I go to: https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-media-server (PlexPass enabled, Linux, Media Server). The only version I can see is 1.14.1.5488.
I’ve tried this on a new browser/clear cache/cookies/etc and keep seeing that. Yet my Plex server tells me A Plex Media Server update is available for the server [ ]! 1.15.0.659
.
What’s not working? Something’s definitely not right.
Is it just the fact that the link won’t show up on the page or are you really not able to follow the two alternate means of downloading the beta version.
Nah, it’s that it’s not showing up on the page. This is breaking multiple API tools and is just an issue that should be addressed.
I was able to download it through other means.
I am using the Mr Worf scrip and it can’t fine a new version either. Guess I’ll try and update DNS servers and see if I still get the cached version.
Same,
https://plex.tv/api/downloads/1.json?channel=plexpass
When I search it for 1.15.0.659 it doesn’t come up with anything.
The api seems not to be updated.
