Player Version#: Roku Ultra … latest Version as auto updates
I am re-posting this topic as it was closed while I was away and I did not see any replies to it. My apologies for re-posting.
Hello…
I am trying to have Plex media player on Roku Ultra show photos from PLEX photo library on my TV. Pictures are stored on Synology NAS which also has the PLEX media Server installed on it (the NAS).
I can navigate to the photos library on the Plex server from the Roku, , select the library and I see the all folders containing their photos. When I select a folder by clicking on it, it opens and loads the first photo but then just sits there. Clicking the next button on the Roku remote does not seem to want to advance to next photo, and if I do nothing , then after about a minute maybe it will go to the next photo by itself. Maybe.
So I have several questions around my expectations that perhaps someone can help with.
-
pics show up on TV screen with side bars making it look like 4:3 ratio. TV is 50 inch wide screen TV.
Expectation: : to be able to change the display ratio to 16:9 to fill the screen. Is this possible and if so
how/where do I do this? -
Pictures do not advance on their own it seems for a long time if and when they advance.
Expectation: have pictures advance like a slide show automatically and be able to set the duration to
an interval I select for each photo to remain before advancing to the next: i.e 7 seconds, and/or be able
to override a timed setting by hitting the next button on the Roku remote since Plex is running on the
Roku. Possible? if so how and where to set this up. -
Why doesn’t the Roku remote advance the pictures when I hit the “next” button on the remote?
How can I control the advancing of the photos manually?
Thanks very much in advance for any help you can offer.
Cheers!

Environment:
Plex Server is Running on a Synology NAS DS415+
NAS is connected via Gigabit Ethernet, to GB Switch connected, to Asus AC1900 Router.
Router connects to Roku via 5 GHz wireless connection.
Roku connects to TV directly via HDMI cable.
Photos are stored under Photos on the NAS
Photos are grouped in subfolder of Photos by “album”
Each album has multiple subfolders.
example structure:
Photos–>Trip1–>Day1
—> possibly another subfolder in some instances.
–>Day2
–>Day3 etc.
-->Trip2-->Day1 <---- to be added later once trip 1 is working as required
-->Day2
-->Day3 etc.
Photos are now added as a library on Plex Server and follow the structure as above.
Trip 1 consists of 2302 photos in 25 folders and consumes 36.5 GB of storage.
Photo sizes vary around the 14-20 MB for jpegs
