Low Picture (JPG) Resolution from Synology NAS library

A few weeks ago, I noticed the quality from the .jpg images streamed from a local Synology NAS to my ROKU device attached to a 65" Samsung TV appeared quite low in resolution. Most of the images are 6000x4000 and were taken with a mirrorless, full frame digital camera so the resolution degradation was obvious, even on a large screen. Here were the other things I did:

  1. I looked at the same images on a different Roku streaming device attached to a different 55" Samsung TV, and same result.

  2. I used the native Plex app on the 65" Samsung TV to eliminate the Roku variable, and same result.

  3. I viewed the images on the Plex website using Chrome (on a 27" screen) and they appeared much closer to the original resolution. I also checked the resolution of the images in Plex library while viewing them and they matched the originals in the NAS.

  4. In desperation, I tinkered around with the database cache size, transcoder settings, and deleting and re-adding the photo library (assuming it might be metadata related) and none of it worked.

I haven’t seen any change to video resolution quality, even for those taken with the same mirrorless camera, so all of this led me to believe something recently changed in the Plex app for images. But maybe I’m wrong. If so, is there anything I’m missing here?

Tried deleting the post, but couldn’t. So replying to say it appears the issue cited is NOT related to the Plex app after all. I tried a few other tests against other apps and streaming methods and still get the same result, so something else is at play.
