Streaming to chromecast ultra all multi surround sound formats are transcoded to ac3

Dear all

I recently noticed that everything i stream to my chromecast ultra all the sound formats that are higher then ac3 5.1 sound is transcoded to ac3 5.1 sound. In other words wben i play a movie with Dts 5.1 its transcoded to ac3 5.1.

I have my chromecast ultra connected through hdmi to a denon avr2200 av receiver. And should be able to process all sound codecs even dts x. I also have my plex media server and android player on the latest version.

I checked the server settings and direct stream and direct play are enabled.
Can anyone please help me…

Chromecasts can only pass through dd and dd plus. So anything else would need to be transcoded.

Something like an Nvidia Shield can do what you’re looking for.
