Studdering with mpeg2ts playback after skip

I’m watching my DVR recordings and am experiencing studdering after skipping forward. My setup is an nvidia shield as PMS + client, and my media library is on a NAS. Everything is hard wired with >30-50 MB/s read / write between the devices.

The shield reports that it is direct playing the video and audio, while transcoding because “container (mpeg2ts) is not supported”. The transcoder is running to play back these files as i see the temp directory filled.

I remuxed the mpeg2tx file into an MKV container and tested it on the same box. The playback is now hardware accelerated and no studdering when seeking. Also, the audio sync remained in tack.

Plex devs, hopefully this is helpful in making the nvidia sheild more usable. Either enable hardware acceleration of the mpeg2ts container or option to remux recordings to mkv…

If you Remux you loose subtitles. The plex app on shield uses exoplayer and it doesn’t like the .ts format; for reliable playback I have to use the plex for kodi addon and play via kodi.
